Woman injured in head-on crash on I-55 in Perryville

PERRYVILLE, Mo. — A woman from Potosi is in the hospital with serious injuries following a head-on crash on Interstate 55 in Perry County just before midnight.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred near mile marker 137 in Perryville when a 34-year-old woman driving a 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan collided head-on with a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta.

Three teenagers from St. Louis were inside the Jetta at the time of the crash. The occupants included two 18-year-old men and a 15-year-old boy, all of whom suffered moderate injuries.

The woman driving the Dodge was flown to a St. Louis hospital due to the severity of her injuries.

Both vehicles involved in the crash were heavily damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
