Women’s Health Wednesday: Menopause Awareness Month

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – October is Menopause Awareness Month. While all women will face it as they age, it doesn’t look and feel the same for all women. While the subject of menopause was once taboo, it is being openly discussed more and that’s encouraging news for women.

There are actually 3 stages of menopause that women need to be aware of and symptoms can start in the earliest stage, last for all 3 stages, or perhaps not. In other words, women experience menopause differently and there are various treatments for those who are struggling.

Dr. Brooke Lamparello, an obstetrician-gynecologist with St. Peters Health Partners, joined us this morning for Women’s Health Wednesday to help educate women about this natural part of aging. She also shared what can be done to make it easier to navigate, as many experience a variety of physical and emotional changes and challenges.
