While Keena Allen’s explosive game-breaking plays have tapered off some with advancing age, his route precision, hands, and durability continue to make him an integral part of the Los Angeles Chargers’ passing attack in 2025.
Moreover, the star wide receiver is closing in on a franchise milestone that would cement his place atop the Chargers’ record books.
Through nine games this season, the veteran receiver has added 50 receptions to bring his career total to 1,024.
His two catches against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday pushed his total as a Charger to 954, leaving him just one reception away from tying Antonio Gates for the most in franchise history.
Allen now has a chance to break the record in front of the home crowd during Sunday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“Chargers Keenan Allen will have an opportunity to break the team’s all time receptions record at home on SNF vs the Steelers next week,” Dan Wolkenstein shared on X. “Allen needs just one reception to tie Antonio Gates, two to break the record.”

The Chargers franchise boasts two Hall of Fame wide receivers in Lance Alworth and Charlie Joiner.
Allen has already surpassed both statistically, with 368 more receptions than Joiner and 1,425 more receiving yards than Alworth.
The evolution of the passing game since Alworth’s playing days provides context, but Allen’s sustained production over multiple seasons speaks to his consistency and skill.
If Allen maintains his current pace, projections suggest he could add approximately 54 receptions over the final eight games.
That trajectory would not only secure the franchise record but also place him within striking distance of the NFL’s all-time top ten.
Indianapolis Colts Hall of Fame finalist Reggie Wayne sits tenth with 1,070 career receptions.
